Dare I say the S word?

March has come in like a lamb and we are all loving the mild weather.

Sam's new favorite toy is... an old Mountain Dew bottle. I don't get it, but he carries that thing around all the time. He also enjoys throwing it down the stairs.

It has been wonderful to finally get some real outside time. (I'm a real wimp about cold weather, so the kids don't get out too much in the winter.) So bizarre to have lovely spring temperatures and piles of snow around. The girls had a snowball fight in weather warm enough to ditch the coats for sweatshirts!

They had to check out all their outside toys and get them ready for spring.

Sam found another green bottle to lug around... bubbles this time.

The girls made sure the swing set is still in working order.

Felicity tried out her cool new sheep bubble blower from Caroline.

Sam checked out the Little Tikes house.

And the Cozy Coupes were brought outside and driven.

Girly stuff

How the girls sleep these days... both on the top bunk, at either end.

And just because, Felicity's adventures trying to get dressed this morning included...

Socks!

Nadine knit the kids some adorable socks, so I took a few photos of them hanging out in their cool cozy socks and jammies the other night.

Sam's favorite not-really-a-toy - the telephone. He checks our messages many times a day.

More snow fun

There is an absurd amount of snow out there.

First, I just love this picture of the girls and Felix snuggled up watching Monsters Inc the other night.

This was what was left of our little snowman when we woke up Wednesday morning, and that was before it continued to snow all day long.

Sam definitely likes to be outside to play, but he'd rather stay on the porch than get down into the snow.

Playhouse, snowed in.

All the pictures from Wednesday were taken in the morning, we got quite a bit more snow over the course of the day, but here's the house - under construction and snowed in. One day, things will be less inconvenient... at least there won't be so much snow.

And now, a few pictures from sledding this morning. I love that our backyard is the neighborhood sledding hill. There were two main sledding trails: a gentle one for the younger kids and a couple of the bigger boys made a ramp for the more daring ones. Savannah was very proud of herself for going down the ramp twice. Felicity even went down the hill (not the ramp) a couple times all by herself. She went on the little saucer and spun all around, but she managed to hold on and kept her signature cheesy grin on the whole time.

Savannah on the saucer.

All the kids... notice how much shorter the legs of the play fort look compared to the last snow pictues.

Savannah and another girl from the neighborhood buddied up quickly amongst all those boys.

Snow Day

Maryland and DC got absolutely hammered yesterday and today. No fun for everyone stuck down there and especially those without power, but there is an upside for us - Alan should get lots of overtime. We didn't have it so bad. It think we may have gotten about 15 inches. I didn't measure; I'm just guessing from how far I sank into it. The kids had fun in it today. We spent all day alternately going out to play and coming in to warm up.

Sam's first time out in the snow to play and check it out

Felicity had trouble walking in it

Savannah pulled Sam and Fliss on the sled for a while

Savannah tried to go sledding but it was too powdery today, and she just sank.

Savannah had to go see how her new playhouse fared in the snow

Passed out. (I like the potato chip in her hand.)

Savannah and I took advantage of Felicity's nap to play Scooby Doo Trouble

After dinner, the kids all got into snuggly footie jammies

I asked Felicity who was in this picture. She pointed out "Mommy" and "Monkey Baby" - she won't try to say her own name yet.

I love Felicity's monkey feet
